Video over IP

As the popularity of the broadband-enabled Internet continues to grow, new hardware and software products are making it easier for location productions and facilities to make use of that networking to move video for everything from digital dailies to archiving.

Winnov's XstreamEngine2 (XE2) offers a good example of that. Released in June, XE2 offers realtime, multiple-stream encoding for streaming media broadcasts and archives audio, video, and rich media over IP networks. The company claims XE2 is the only such product that does “Parallel Casting,” combining up to eight bitstreams for simultaneous delivery.

Winnov also says it prices lower than the competition, at about $2,000 to $2,500 per stream. www.winnov.com
