Reality
Until Google offers to index your dailies, logging will remain one of the more onerous, if important, production tasks. Having shots and scenes correctly entered becomes even more important with tight deadlines looming.
Start-up Lanterna Magica feels it's got a solution — Reality. (The name choice should conjure reality-TV production, says company CEO Pierre Rinfret.)
According to the Montreal-based company, with the turnkey Reality console, production staff will save editors untold hours by encoding for video proxies and logging content descriptions in realtime as the action unfolds.
The company does also offer a logging service, prepping libraries for the Web with content descriptions, timecodes, and physical media identifiers, as well as the software to search for and play content. www.lanternamagica.com
