When considering portable computing, potent laptops aren't the only alternative. NextComputing has been turning out a variety of laptops, small luggable computers, and other products for the mobile market. The New Hampshire-based company recently added Blu-ray Disc drives to its products, including the NextDimension Pro, a luggable computer that handles dual- and quad-core AMD Opteron processors as well as Intel Xeon processors. Top graphics cards from AMD and Nvidia are also supported, enabling the system to power everything from desktop monitors to visualization centers. The company's “quick-time” drive technology allows users to boot up multiple operating systems as needed. An HD version, NextDimension Pro HD, includes an integrated 17in. WUXGA+ LCD with up to 1920×1200 resolution.
