Casablanca Liberty
Many editors enjoy the simplicity of standalone hardware/software editing machines, and Macrosystem serves a great number of them, claiming 130,000 worldwide users for its Casablanca systems. The company has recently teamed with Toshiba to create a mobile HDV editor, the Casablanca Liberty. The Liberty runs on a Portege M400 tablet PC with a swiveling LCD touchscreen. Editors can work directly onscreen with the included stylus. HDV is downconverted to an SD signal so editors can work quickly, and the native HDV signal with its identical timecode is edited in the background.
