TriCaster Broadcast
Small is good if you're going on location. NewTek seems to have kept that in mind from the beginning with its TriCaster series of compact, portable production systems — something clients such as the NBA, Fox Sports, and the NHL seem to appreciate. In May, the San Antonio-based company started shipping the latest version, TriCaster Broadcast, which also includes a virtual set system. Offering serial digital input, the device also works with an optional slow-motion controller ($995) as well as an optional link to Daktronics scoreboards ($995) that allows you to pull information directly from a scoreboard into the video. The standard TriCaster Broadcast allows you to connect and mix output from up to six serial digital, component, composite, and Y/C cameras.
