Blackmagic Video Recorder
Well, Blackmagic Design has done it again, coming up with a smart new product at a lower price point that solves a real production problem. The Blackmagic Video Recorder is the size of the typical compact USB flash device, but it captures files directly to the H.264 format for use just about anywhere you can imagine — including Apple TV, iPod, iPhone, YouTube, IPTV, and the Web. The quality is good; the Australian company designed the chipset from the ground up. The analog version accepts analog component, NTSC, PAL, and S-Video input, and it allows capture from any analog source. The SDI version accepts standard-definition SDI input and RS-422 deck control for connection to any broadcast deck.
