New gear to monitor HD, as well as SD, in the field includes sturdy smaller monitors. One example: Sony's LMD-9050, a 9in., multiformat HD/SD monitor that features built-in HD/SD-SDI capability. With a resolution of 1024×768 (XGA), the panel, with a light reflecting coating, offers a viewing angle of 170 degrees, useful in tight spaces such as a van or truck. Features include switchable 4:3/16:9 aspect ratio; inputs include composite, Y/C, analog HD/SD component, and RGB.
