Ever-shrinking electronics are making computers into true appliances. Microprocessor-design firm Marvell's SheevaPlug is about the size of a typical wall power converter, yet it is a full Linux-powered PC running on a gigahertz-class processor. The company says that it draws less than a tenth of the power of a typical PC being used as a home server while offering 512MB of flash-memory storage, 512MB DRAM, a USB 2.0 port, and Gigabit Ethernet connectivity.
