As computer technology gets more potent, even lower-cost production gear can offer a range of technology once only in six-figure broadcast gear. Echolab offers an example of that dynamic with its MegaKeyMD, which debuted at NAB Show 2008. Designed to aid live production by bringing more power to a smaller switcher, the device includes a clip player, mixer, and keyer that can serve as a networked-storage device for animated graphics and video clips. MegaKeyMD accepts both HD and SD inputs, and it features a 2-channel internal mixer and internal linear keyer to support playout of dynamic video clips.
