A typical problem with most LCD displays is that off-axis viewing — that is, anything around 45 degrees or more from dead center — severely degrades color images. That can be a problem when you have clients in the edit suite that have to sign off on a project. To some eyes, NEC solves that with its 30in. MultiSync LCD3090WQXi, which won a Best of Show award at MacWorld 2008. The 4-megapixel (2560×1600), wide-gamut, widescreen LCD features ColorComp — which claims to reduce LCD uniformity errors while compensating for differences in color/grayscale and luminance — and backlighting technology, which reproduces 102 percent of the NTSC color scale.
