DCI JPEG2000 3D support

While it’s still not part of many production scenarios, displaying stereoscopic video content is becoming more practical. The Quvis Cinema Player, for example, now supports the DCI JPEG 2000 3D format, which can be used for stereoscopic exhibition using either passive (polarized) or active (shutter) visualization technology. The format provides for two 12-bit 4:4:4 video streams—left eye and right eye—stored in a single-image track file. During playback, the player decodes the image track file and parses left eye and right eye picture data into two separate synchronized output video streams. The Cinema Player also supports the company’s proprietary 3D QPE format, which supports realtime 3D mastering.
