Model 2100
Instead of using multiple cablessuch as component video plus audioto send DVD player or other source material to an HDMI display, Communications Specialties’ Model 2100 enables transfer over one cable. Designed specifically to expand the input capabilities of the company’s Scan Do HD scan converter, Model 2100 uses no scaling. One key application is the conversion of computer-based content to baseband video so that news facilities, for instance, can use VGA output from an active computer display in news reports, converted any way they want within their Scan Do HD. In addition to the Scan Do HD, the device connects the VGA video signal from a PC to the HDMI or DVI input of a flatscreen. It will also output to a DVI interface using the included HDMI-to-DVI cable. The unit takes advantage of HDMI’s ability to embed stereo audio in the same cable with video; however, audio is not supported on the DVI interface.
