May 25, 2007 3:32 PM
Visix is pleased to announce that it will support commercially available weather produced by AccuWeather.com. Under the terms of the arrangement, Visix will deliver professional weather content to AxisTV users that purchase the optional subscription service. Users can select to receive published content from any or all of the following categorieslocal weather (current conditions), local five-day forecast, and local weather radar. Professionally designed layouts can be automatically updated through the AxisTV graphic link feature.
Graphical Weather Modules from AccuWeather.com have been developed specifically to provide digital signage applications with the weather elements in which the public has the greatest interest. These eye-catching, attractive, high-resolution, low-bandwidth modules are available for all 43,000 U.S. ZIP codes. Graphical Weather Modules are available in two formats: 16:9 aspect ratio (1366x768) for full-screen applications and 4:3 aspect ratio (1024x768) for main-screen applications, typically as a TV-size content zone with a sidebar. Both formats are optimized to require low bandwidth for delivery. The Graphical Weather Modules are designed for venues with ambient noise and shorter dwell viewing times and do not include audio.
Visix has long supported free weather updates managed and delivered by NOAA’s National Weather Service. The addition of AccuWeather.com as a commercial weather provider is the result of numerous requests from AxisTV users for a more reliable and graphically detailed weather information provider.
Pricing for the subscription service is now available with service scheduled for release in June 2007. Click here to view graphics samples.
