Scratch adds 3D workflow
Making the move to 3D for DI post, Assimilate recently demo'd a stereoscopic 3D workflow available in the new Scratch V3.5. Shown at IBC 2007, the presentation included segments of 3ality Digital's U2 3D concert film, which employed a realtime 3D data workflow courtesy of Scratch's DI tool suite. The Scratch workstation employs the dual-DVI outputs on Nvidia Quadro FX cards along with Scratch CONstruct, a flexible app that allows users to create a timeline with right-eye material on one layer and left-eye material on another. The two clips can be edited as a single instance and color graded. Also on tap: a preview of Scratch V3.6, which will offer a Red Digital Cinema workflow to handle assemble, conform, playback, color correct, finish, and output to any format and any resolution — up to and including full 4K — according to Assimilate. www.assimilateinc.com
