The world of storage for postproduction is complex. One way manufacturers address the market is to offer more choices, rather than fewer, to best deal with those complexities.
At October's Storage Networking World in Dallas, Atto Technology did just that with the introduction of three new products: Celerity quad-channel 8Gb Fibre Channel host adapters, ExpressSAS 6Gb SAS/SATA host adapters, and a FastStream SC 8500 8Gb RAID storage controller. Said to be the only quad-channel 8Gb host adapter in the market, the Celerity FC-84EN host adapter provides what the company claims is the highest-rated Fibre Channel throughput of 1600MBps per port by ganging together eight lanes of PCIe 2.0 bus bandwidth. Atto also says it's the only company delivering ExpressSAS 6Gb SAS/SATA host adapters. The company's six models deliver flexibility since they a feature a variety of initiator and target drivers and various combinations of internal and external connections. The FastStream SC 8500 enables users to straightforwardly build a SAN via its 8Gb Fibre Channel interface with a SAS/SATA independent storage controller.
