Boxx supports new AMD CPU

In applications that include rendering, new quad-core AMD Opteron-based workstations provide a near-linear improvement compared to the dual-core version, according to Boxx Technologies. That's almost twice the rendering capacity available in the Apexx 4 and renderBoxx Classic 7500 products. This third-generation Opteron also employs several power-saving technologies that provide higher performance per watt — not a bad idea as electricity costs increase. According to Boxx, the CPU's new Wide Floating Point Accelerator also improves floating-point intensive computation, such as raytracing, to more than four times that of the previous Opteron CPU. www.boxxtech.com
