While you still might not want to plunge into investing in MAM (media asset management) software, prices are starting to trend down, even as developers bring easier-to-use visual click-and-drag programming to the mix. One example is Southpaw Technology's Tactic. Now in version 2.0, the app features the node-based Pipeline Editor, which enables artists to define and visually streamline software pipelines — said to improve efficiency and workflow among multiple departments. Tactic's Browser and Custom View Builder enables straightforward creation of custom views within the Tactic web interface.
