Until recently, using a standard laptop to capture HD resolutions wasn't feasible. Now, new generations of capture cards such as the HD-SDI Express from Imperx are making it possible to record even 20-bit YCrCb 4:2:2 or 24-bit RGB data.
The card allows capture of single or multiple frames and standard AVI clips from SD or HD SDI-compliant video sources. Each captured frame can be stamped with a user message along with the date and time of capture. The card, which is ExpressCard/54-compliant, offers up to 2.5Gbps of bandwidth.
