With post operations increasingly needing flexibility to deal with today's distribution world — from Blu-ray to streaming video to cell phones and more — new generations of software are stepping up to solve the situation. Telestream, for example, recently announced that version 5.1 of its Episode series media-encoding software is now available for Windows. Episode handles SD and HD video from DV to full 1080 resolutions (DVCPRO HD and XDCAM HD). Output codecs include WM9, VC-1, Flash 8/9, H.264, MPEG-1/-2/-4, DV, 3GPP/2, M4A, MOV, and QT. A new feature, Watch folders, enables users to automate operations via a simple drag-and-drop operation.
