Wireless video transmission between camcorders and base stations became popular over the last few years as improved, lower-priced transmission technology enabled on-location production without cable clutter. But with the growing move toward HD, users have faced the prospect of much higher-priced systems — the result of the technology needed to deliver the requisite transmission rates. Now, IDX offers a lower-cost wireless HD transmission system: the CW-5HD. The transmitter-and-receiver combo delivers uncompressed HD-SDI and SD-SDI with virtually no latency and less than 1 millisecond delay.
