With a growing variety of formats brought about by new Internet, DVD, and even cell phone uses, your desktop encoding software better keep up to date. So check out the latest versions of Autodesk Cleaner: Autodesk Cleaner 6.5 for Macintosh and Autodesk Cleaner XL 1.5 for Windows. The software adds a Flash exporter, command line rendering, automation, updated codecs for Kinoma and H.264, encoding support for DivX, and a Flix exporter to publish video in FLV and SWF formats.
In a separate announcement, Autodesk debuted Discreet Flame on dual-core Linux workstations, bringing the interactive 3D compositing environment to facilities such as Rhythm & Hues Studios, an all-Linux house. Kevin Tengan, head of 2D systems at the Los Angeles-based company, praises the system's speed and stability. www.autodesk.com
