Speeds operations as it employs the same batch-function capability as Flame and Inferno. Price: License available to Flame/Inferno users
As usual, Autodesk announced next year's upgraded product line—that's 2010—at this year's NAB Show. All of the announced products are now available, and who's to argue that the company isn't aggressive in turning out new products and worthwhile updates?
Take the company's one new product intro: Flare. The app does something that's increasingly necessary in handling effects in post: It takes a stab at figuring out the best way to bridge the gap between 2D and 3D. Built using the core toolset of Flame and Inferno, Flare handles tasks including compositing, complex graphics, and interactive design, as well as support tasks such as rotoscoping, retouching, dust removal, project setup, and keying.
Autodesk positions Flare as ideal for training neophyte artists, as the product can be used as an adjunct to a Flame or Inferno suite.
