Generation Z

The next generation of Hitachi's workhorse Z camera line, the Z-4000W, offers an array of configurations that fits a variety of production situations, and the camera follows Hitachi's strategy of keeping the Z family its best price-performance value. The Z-4000W employs new 12-bit analog to digital converters, which deliver higher-quality digitizing of the CCDs' analog output. Also new: DSP circuitry with 38-bit signal processing power and a triaxial cable transmission system that scales up the usable cable distance specification to more than 6,233ft. The camera also uses all of the Z-3000W's accessories.
Price: $17,000, not including lens
