Ugrip

Add enough accessories to a camcorder, and it starts resembling Frankenstein’s monster with loose cords and teetering parts. At NAB, Danish company Ugrip introduced its eponymous camera stabilization system. The modular system starts with a camera base plate and branches out into handles, which can be dual or single and downward- or upward-pointing. The idea is to provide a steady and comfortable way to move the camcorder, and a stable base for adding lights, audio transmitters, portable hard drives, etc. For that purpose there are several clamps, spacers, and fastening bridges available. Ugrip has tested more than a dozen series of cameras—any film or video model up to Digibeta size should work, according to the company.
