Camera operators know an ideal rig will include a range of flexible filters. One such kit to consider is the new 4"×4" Century DV/HDV series, designed for today's standard mattebox filterholder. The glass comes from the reputable folks at Schneider Optics. Of course, neutral-density filters form the basis of the new lineup; the Century ND .6 Solid filter reduces transmission by 75 percent, while the ND .6 Soft Edge Graduated filter is 50-percent clear and 50-percent with a neutral density of 0.6 (two stops), to balance exposure within a scene — with that, you can shoot a landscape while avoiding overexposed, blank white skies.
