It seems like it was only yesterday (well, OK, it was this past May) that Panasonic started shipping its 16GB P2 card, at a capacity some eight times that of its original solid-state memory card introduced in 2003. Well the company is at it again: A 32GB P2 card will be available in November, at a price point equal to the original cost of the 4GB version. That results in a serious bump up in recording time of a five-card camcorder to around 5 hours of DVCPRO 50 or more than 3 hours in DVCPRO HD at 24p. Give solid-state the nod, too, if you typically knock things around — it handles shock, dust, and temperature extremes.
