Details—such as the development code names provided here—are still sketchy, but Ikegami and Toshiba debuted a jointly developed HD ENG system at NAB 2007. The tapeless system includes a digital camcorder, a field recorder, and a studio deck that uses flash memory. The idea is efficient workflow from acquisition to archiving. The GFCam hybrid tapeless camera has three 2/3in. image sensors and supports 1080i and 720p, as well as Retro Loop, time-lapse, and MXF file recording. The GFStation, a flash memory-based recorder, and the half-rack size GFStation portable recorder both upconvert and downconvert material for playback, support both 1080i and 720p, and provide a jog and shuttle dial.
