XH A1 and XH G1
With these new HDV camcorders, Canon is building from two successful templates — the structure of its successful DV product line (XL1/GL1) and the technology of its breakthrough HDV entry, the XL H1. The DV line had the XL1 (later XL2) at the forefront, offering interchangeable lenses but otherwise similar pro features and image quality as the GL1/GL2. Likewise, the XH A1 and G1 shoot 1080i HDV with three CCDs and a DIGIC DV II signal processor (as does the XL H1) but with a fixed 20X Canon lens. These two add a new Instant Auto Focus technology that uses an external sensor for quicker focusing. Only the XH G1 features Professional Jackpack terminals for optional HD-SDI out.
