With the dire circumstances of the economy — for manufacturers and buyers alike — expect NAB Show 2009 to include plenty of news about lower-cost gear. Case in point: Sony's newest HDV camcorder, the HVR-Z5U, which offers native 24p recording as well as tapeless recording capability through an optional CompactFlash adapter. Other features of note include balanced audio, XLR inputs, time-code, and three ClearVid 1/3in. CMOS chips.
