Call for submissions -- Nell Shipman Awards

NELL SHIPMAN AWARDS for EXCELLENCE in FILMMAKING 2006

Presented by Women in Film/Seattle

SUBMISSION DEADLINE: JULY 15, 2006

On October 21, 2006, Women in Film/Seattle presents this highly visible, much anticipated event at A.C.T Theater - an evening dedicated to the recognition of female luminaries as well as stars who call the NW their home and began their filmmaking careers here.

Awards to honor filmmaking achievements by Pacific Northwest women are granted for work in film, television, video and new media. Please see guidelines below.

The evening’s high point is the Career Achievement Award. Previous years, we have been delighted to honor Dyan Cannon (Ally McBeal, The Practice, Bob & Carol & Ted & Alice), Jean Smart (24, I Heart Huckabees, Frasier), Betty Thomas (Hill Street Blues, Private Parts, The Brady Bunch Movie), Lauren Shuler-Donner (X-Men, Free Willy, St. Elmo’s Fire) in person.

This year our honoree is Margot Kidder, prolific actress, still best known for her starring roles in the Superman blockbuster films. Ms. Kidder will attend to accept her award.

Other special awards given this night are also Light of the Community and Spirit of Nell.
