As usual, SIGGRAPH will be a big, sprawling conference with hundreds of great presentations and works of art--including more video-based art than ever before. The key is to plan ahead, so you don't miss something important, like the world-premiere of EZTV's latest avante-garde DV film, or ILM's workshop on styling characters, or Digital Domain's presentation on the Michael Jordan Gatorade commercial.

This preview magazine can help you figure out your individual must-see list. In particular, here are a few highlights. The Sketches program is less formal than the Papers and covers dozens of fascinating effects and works in progress. The Web Graphics program, now in its second year, has some great presentations, in particular on Macromedia Central and other rich internet applications that will help define tomorrow's content creation. The Art Gallery is more video-oriented than ever, with more than 20 video and animation pieces. And of course there's always the Computer Animation Festival. Click through to read how Sam Chen spent three years making the Best Animated Short.
