Titanium seems to turn up everywhere these days; the high-strength metal offers rigidity to laptops and camera gear, even though it's thinner than comparable aluminum or other material. Turns out that it's even useful in multicoating filters, according to longtime filter maker Tiffen. The company's new Digital HT filters with high-transmission, double-sided titanium multicoating are said to have improved scratch-resistant durability over standard lens coatings. While most coated filters on the market today require delicate cleaning procedures, Tiffen says its titanium-coated filters don't require that type of handling to protect against damage and mark up.
