Located on The Strip in Las Vegas, the Fashion Show Mall represents a pinnacle of achievement in for the integration of digital media technology in high-profile urban environments. This three-stage tour starts off with a visit to Show Central, a multi-purpose facility that handles Fashion Show's control and monitoring, as well as its on-site media production. Next, participants will stop off at The Great Hall, a key site at which at which daily house shows and a number of key industry events and product launches are staged. The tour concludes with a trip to The Plaza, which features The Cloud, an architectural structure that provides shade by day and serves as a 500ft. long, 128ft. high projection screen by night. Throughout the tour, expect to learn about the collaborative design and development process behind the facility's construction and technology, and develop an understanding of the business model responsible for this facility's economic viability.

University of Nevada, Las Vegas

Wednesday, June 8, 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Located just off The Strip, the UNLV campus presents an excellent learning environment not only for its students, but also for AV pros, no matter how seasoned. The tour starts off with the Lied Library's Access Grid, a hub for education and research group-to-group interactions over Internet2. A single computer controls the grid node, which uses three digital projectors, four video cameras, and eight ceiling mics with echo-canceling electronics. Also in the Lied Library is an integrated VOD system that distributes both analog and digital media to a wide range of locations throughout the campus, from viewing stations to classrooms and branch libraries. The tour finishes off with a trip to the Stan Fulton Building's International Gaming Institute, a truly unique facility that houses a casino laboratory, computer lab/classroom, conference center, IGT Gaming Resource Center, and state-of-the-art distance learning technology.
